Staff Qualifications and Professional Development
Our experience has been that very special people have come to work at the Indooroopilly Montessori Children’s House – special by way of qualification and an emotional make-up which provides the most caring and loving environment for all children.
Staff guide the children to ensure a balanced approach to learning activities. A primary task is the careful observation of each child to determine his or her specific needs and to prepare an environment which aids individual growth.
The teaching approach neither imposes upon children as in direct teaching, nor abandons them as in a non-direct, permissive approach. Staff are constantly alert to each child’s learning direction and actively help the child achieve his or her goals.
Staff are fully aware of the Centre’s philosophy and goals and implement these goals in a positive way. Staff work as a team to ensure a consistent and united message.
Each staff member has a minimum of a Cert. III in Children’s Services. All Group Leaders hold a minimum of a Diploma in Children’s Services and/or a Diploma in Montessori Education. Many staff are studying the Montessori Method of Education and all staff have access to and attend regular workshops.
